Manager food safety training offered
COSHCOCTON – The ServSafe Manager Food Safety Training course will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 3, 10 and 17 in Room B100 of the Coshocton County Services Building. The proctored exam will be at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17
Class size is limited to eight. The program meets Ohio Department of Health manager certification requirements by providing in-depth food safety and safe food handling education for owners, managers and operators within the food service industry.
This training enhances understanding of major food safety principles, including factors leading to contamination of food, time and temperature abuse, cross-contamination and personal hygiene. Additional topics include the flow of food from receiving through service, food system management, pest control, and cleaning and sanitizing.

Grove earns degree
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – Amber Grove of Coshocton has earned a bachelor’s degree in marking management from Western Governors University. The online, nonprofit university has graduated more than 190,000 students from across the country since its inception in 1997.
Buehler’s raises $10,000 for ASPO
WOOSTER – Buehler’s Fresh Foods, with a store in Coshocton, has raised more than $10,000 for the Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio’s Ability to Play campaign.
These funds are especially crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic and allow ASPO to safely provide health and wellness activities for individuals living with disabilities. Funding was raised during a July register campaign at Buehler’s outlets.
Stone Creek garage sales upcoming
STONE CREEK – The Tunnel Hill Community Center will be open Aug. 13 and 15 in conjunction with the annual Stone Creek Community Garage Sales.
Spaces are free and will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 13 and 14 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15. Contact Pauline at 330-795-5057 to reserve a spot. The community center will also be holding a silent auction and a live auction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15.
A chicken barbecue will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that Saturday with a chicken for $7 or four chicken halves for $25. Contact 330-795-5057 by Aug. 7 to reserve an order. It is pickup only with no sides. Food trucks will also be available Thursday to Saturday.
West Lafayette UMC continues outdoor services
WEST LAFAYETTE – West Lafayette United Methodist Church will be continuing outdoor services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday mornings at Burt Park.
Bring a folding chair. Social distancing will be observed and its suggested that masks be worn. You can also park near the the gathering on the lawn and listen to serves from your vehicle on 90.9 FM. Services are also being taped and posted to the church’s website and Facebook page.
Ridgewood announces meal policy
WEST LAFAYETTE – Ridgewood Local Schools has announced its policy for free and reduced-priced lunches for the upcoming school year.
The program is for students unable to pay full price for meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack and Special Milk programs.
Each school office and the central office has copies of the policy and eligibility requirements that parents may review. Those receiving free meals may also be eligible for free health care coverage through Medicaid or Ohio Health Start and Healthy Families programs.
